Ways To Give!

Donations are essential to People Helping People because they provide the funding needed to carry out our mission. Unlike a for-profit-business, PHP doesn’t exist to make a profit, so we rely on donations to cover day-to-day operations, run programs, and support our Burlington neighbors who rely on our services.

In short, donations keep us running and make our work possible.

Venmo In Memory/Honor Form
You can memorialize or honor someone by donating to People Helping People in one of three ways, by credit card (via our on-line donation center), Venmo, or check.

Credit Card

Memorializing or honoring someone can easily be done through the PHP Donation Center. Enter your credit card information as well as who the donation is in honor/memory of and to whom an acknowledgement should be sent, right within the form.

Venmo

Enter your donation into your Venmo account and then complete the form below to ensure your gift is properly acknowledged.

Check

If you are making a donation by check, include a note with your gift indicating who the donation is in honor/memory of and to whom an acknowledgement should be sent. Checks should be made payable to “People Helping People” and mailed to:

Payroll giving (sometimes called workplace giving) is a way for employees to donate to charities directly from their paycheck, usually through an employer-run program.

    How it works
  • You choose a charity you want to support.
  • You authorize your employer to deduct a set amount from each paycheck.
  • The employer sends those donations to the charity (often through a platform or nonprofit partner).
  • In many countries, the donation may be tax-efficient because it’s deducted before or with tax adjustments.
    Example
  • Your salary: $3,000/month
  • Payroll giving donation: $50/month
  • Your employer deducts $50 from your paycheck and sends it to the charity automatically.
    Common Features
  • Automatic recurring donations (weekly, biweekly, or monthly)
  • Employer matching in some companies (the company matches your donation)
  • Tax benefits in the USA
  • Ability to support multiple charities
    Why companies offer it
  • Makes donating easy and consistent
  • Helps companies support social causes
  • Encourages employee engagement and volunteering

Payroll giving is a convenient way to support charities by automatically donating from each paycheck.

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account run by a public charity that allows individuals, families, or organizations to manage their philanthropic donations in one place. To use a DAF, a donor opens an account and contributes cash, stocks, or other assets. Once the contribution is made, the donor gives up legal ownership of those assets. However, they can still recommend how the funds are invested and which charities receive grants from the account.

DAF Direct makes it easier to support your favorite charities by giving directly from your donor-advised fund.

CARS is a nonprofit that helps thousands of other nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and Canada increase their fundraising through turn-key vehicle and real estate donation programs. You can donate your vehicle to People Helping People by visiting www.careasy.org/people-helping-people-inc or by calling 855-500-RIDE (7433) during regular hours of operations, where the CARS Vehicle Donor Support Team will walk you through the donation form over the phone and then help you arrange for your free pick-up. Donated vehicles are sold through the used-car markets and provide crucial funding for PHP programs and services making an impact in the Burlington community.

MATCHING GIFT A company match (or matching gift) is a program in which an employer donates money to a nonprofit organization to match a charitable contribution made by one of its employees.

Many employers will match charitable donations made by their employees, retirees, and sometimes spouses. Matching gifts can double or even triple the impact of your contribution at no additional cost to you.

LEGACY/WILLS Making a bequest (a gift through your will or estate plan) to a nonprofit such as People Helping People, Inc. can serve your personal, financial, and philanthropic goals.

A bequest allows you to support People Helping People, Inc. even after your lifetime. Many donors like knowing their legacy will have a positive impact on their community.

If you are considering a bequest, we strongly recommend that you discuss your intentions with an estate attorney or financial advisor.

    Leave a Lasting Legacy
  • A bequest allows you to continue to have a positive impact on your community through People Helping People, Inc. even after your lifetime.

  • Contingent bequest - takes effect only if certain conditions occur

  • This flexibility makes it easier to balance family needs and charitable goals. Please discuss which option may be best with your attorney or financial advisor.
